Terms & Conditions

• You must be at least 16 years old and able to form a binding contract
• You must provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date
• You are responsible for safeguarding your password and all activity under your account
• One person may not maintain multiple accounts to evade moderation or misrepresent identity
• We may require email verification before you post reviews, apply for jobs, or use certain features

Recruiter accounts are intended for authorised representatives of shipping companies, manning agencies, or employers. Misrepresenting your affiliation may result in immediate suspension.

You agree to use SeafarerCircle lawfully and in good faith. You must not:

• Post false, misleading, or defamatory reviews or job information
• Harass, threaten, or discriminate against other users
• Scrape, crawl, or automate access in ways that burden or circumvent our systems
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts, data, or admin tools
• Use the Platform for spam, phishing, malware, or fraudulent recruitment schemes
• Collect personal data from users without consent or a lawful basis
• Circumvent rate limits, report caps, or moderation actions
• Impersonate another seafarer, company, recruiter, or SeafarerCircle staff member

Detailed community expectations are set out in our Community Guidelines, which are incorporated into these Terms by reference.

Reviews, posts, comments, vessel suggestions, and other materials you submit ("User Content") must reflect your genuine experience or honest opinion, except where anonymous posting is explicitly permitted.

Fake or manipulated reviews are prohibited, including:

• Reviews for companies or vessels you have not worked with
• Reviews written in exchange for payment, gifts, or threats
• Coordinated campaigns to inflate or destroy a company's reputation
• Duplicate reviews, review swapping, or using alternate accounts to bypass limits

You retain ownership of your User Content, but you grant SeafarerCircle a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce, adapt, and distribute it on the Platform and in promotional materials that reference community content. This licence ends when content is deleted, except where retention is required for legal, moderation, or backup purposes.

If you post jobs or manage a company profile as a recruiter, you agree to:

• Publish accurate job titles, ranks, vessel types, contract terms, and salary ranges where stated
• Only list positions you are authorised to fill on behalf of the named company
• Respond to applications in a professional manner and comply with applicable employment laws
• Not use applicant data for unrelated marketing or resale
• Post official review responses that are factual and professional — not retaliatory
• Maintain verified company information and promptly update outdated fleet or contact details

SeafarerCircle does not guarantee hires, applicant quality, or the accuracy of seafarer credentials. Employers remain responsible for their own vetting, medical checks, and compliance with STCW, MLC, and flag-state requirements.

Job listings may link to external application pages or use SeafarerCircle's internal application flow. We do not guarantee that listings are current, that employers will respond, or that any position remains available.

When you apply, you authorise us to share submitted profile and resume information with the relevant recruiter. SeafarerCircle is not a party to any employment contract between you and an employer.

We may review, remove, restrict, or edit User Content and accounts at our discretion, including when content violates these Terms, our Community Guidelines, or applicable law.

Moderation actions may include:

• Removing or hiding reviews, posts, jobs, or profile elements
• Issuing warnings or temporary feature restrictions
• Suspending or terminating accounts
• Reporting serious misconduct to authorities where legally required

We are not obligated to monitor all content in advance. Users can report jobs, reviews, and community posts through in-product reporting tools. We aim to review reports promptly but do not guarantee a specific response time.

The SeafarerCircle name, logo, interface design, software, and original platform content are owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without written permission.

Company logos, vessel photos, and other materials uploaded by users or recruiters remain the property of their respective owners. By uploading, you confirm you have the right to do so and grant us the licence described above to display such materials on the Platform.

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SEAFARERCIRCLE DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Reviews and community posts reflect user opinions and experiences, not statements by SeafarerCircle. We do not verify every review, salary figure, or job detail. You should conduct your own due diligence before joining a vessel or signing a contract.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SEAFARERCIRCLE AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE PLATFORM WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (USD $100), EXCEPT WHERE LIABILITY CANNOT BE LIMITED BY APPLICABLE LAW.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SeafarerCircle from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your User Content, your use of the Platform, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

You may close your account at any time through settings or by contacting support. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, created risk for other users, or where required by law.

Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases. Provisions that by nature should survive — including content licences for previously published material, disclaimers, liability limits, and indemnity — will continue to apply.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Singapore, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country provide otherwise.

Before filing a formal claim, you agree to contact us at legal@seafarercircle.com and attempt to resolve the dispute informally within 30 days. If unresolved, disputes shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore, unless applicable law requires a different forum.

We may modify these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Material changes may be notified by email or in-product notice. Your continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance.
